MAY, 19, 2019: DATA PROTECTION AND GDPR -- EXPIRATION OF THE TEMPORARY “SOFT’ REGIME

Section 22, paragraph 13, of the Italian Legislative Decree No. 101 of 2018 in force as of September 19, 2018 provided that for the eight months following the date of the Decree’s entry into force the Italian Data Protection Authority (“IDPA”) is empowered to apply lighter penalties justified by the initial difficulties in complying with GDPR provisions. We inform you that the temporary soft regime will expire on May 19, 2019 and the IDPA openly stated that as of May 20, 2019 can apply the entire penalties. We suggest to proceed as soon as possible to update the documents of your companies in compliance with the GDPR.
